Food Scrap Recycling & Composting

Food Scrap Dropoff Sites


The Riverdale Food Scrap Collective will be accepting food scraps from Sundays 11:30am to 12:30pm ONLY. What to drop off:

  • Fruit, vegetables, and eggshells

  • Coffee, tea, and nuts

  • Dried flowers and houseplants

  • Rice, pasta, bread, and grains


Volunteers accept food scraps Saturdays between 10 a.m. and noon.


Mondays 8:00am - 10:0am


Wednesday from noon - 2pm, seasonally.


Our drop-off site is open Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm accepting scraps including:

  • tea bags

  • coffee grounds

  • egg shells

  • wilted flowers and dead plants including the soil

  • meat, fish, cheese and any dairy products are not currently acceptable

Compost pick-up services (fees vary):


Vokashi- Pick up service in NYC and Westchester. Includes a compost pod option which allows neighbors to split costs and maximize efficiency by serving multiple households in a single stop.


Greenfeen Organix- Bronx based worker-owned coop, processes organic waste into compost.
